Here’s a poster I made for tonight’s Third Ward Summit neighborhood meeting. I got to use Braingelt, Floursack, Adrianna and all the Photoshop filters I wanted for this one.

Hooray for the Go Font Yourself fontpak! Two of the GFY fonts were featured in full-page ads for Microsoft Vista in The Wall Street Journal. It was the new handwriting standards GFY-Woodward on Monday and GFY-Pollak on Tuesday as the headline fonts representing the printed voice of the individuals portrayed in the ad.

I get a kick out of videos that show personification of typefaces. I always think of each font being it’s own character, so it’s fun seeing those personalities realized in video form. Get some giggles with this Font Conference video at CollegeHumor.com. The video features Olde English, Futura, French Script and Baskerville Old Face debating whether or not they should let Zapf Dingbat into their font club. My favorite part, personally, is seeing Saucy Millionaire in the logo for CollegeHumor on the top of the page. Now that’s a funny font!

What did your typography teacher say? “Never use three fonts in one headline (unless it’s Chank Fonts and you’re trying to sell rum).” Here’s Cruzan Guava Rum having some fun with Chunder, Goshen and Gomorrah. Note Gomorrah’s signature “upside-down-N”. Cool! Found this one right here in my own neighborhood in NE Mpls. Props to The Martin Agency for breaking the rules and having such excellent taste in fonts.

Font of the Month Club member and artist Gary Taxali chose Rosemary and Quimby Gubernatorial for flyers for his new art show titled Flop House Rules opening at Iguapop Gallery in Barcelona. The show runs through June 28. In addition to his eurogallery artshow, the critically acclaimed visual artist has collaborated with Aimee Mann on her 7th solo release @#%&! Taxali has contributed 17 original illustrations for the packaging of  the CD, art directed by Aimee Mann and Gail Marowitz, and designed by Marowitz and Ed Sherman. Way to go Gary! Keep up the good work!
